Even stating: “I started writing songs when I was 13 or 14 because I've always been a huge reader. My mum's a poet and we've always had so many books, and that's always been a big thing for me, arguably more so than music.” She released her first EP called “The Love Club EP” in March of 2013. There was no publicity or marketing down for the EP. Despite this, the EP reached the No. 1 spot on the New Zealand Album Chart. The single “Royals” occupied the top spot as well.
