Jeff Goldblum was born on October 22, 1952 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ever since he was a young child, Jeff knew he wanted to pursue a career in acting. He kept his desire a secret from his friends and family though. He didn't have a real chance to try out drama until his teen years. During the summer he took sessions at Carnegie Mellon University when he was only 17 years old. Eventually finding his way to New York City, and studying alongside Sanford Meisner. As Goldblum continued to pursue his career, he was able to get involved with bigger name projects like Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 1978, Threshold in 1981, and even playing the role of Ichabod Crane in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Jeff Goldblum is mostly known for his role (and perhaps the film that helped solidify his acting career) in the Jurassic Park film series. Starring in the first film, and playing one of the main roles for its sequel too. Some of the more recent works he's played is a few critically acclaimed films like Igby Goes Down in 2002, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou in 2004, and in 2009 starring in the crime series Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Goldblum has not quite pursued the path of fame like other actors. He has continued to star in a couple of films. He became more active in Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Playing the role of Detective Zack Nichols on the show. His stage work has also been noticed due to his performances for The Pillowman and Seminar. Currently, Goldblum is teaching at the Playhouse West in Los Angeles.
Jeff Goldblum has always been noted as being a bit of a quirky actor. He starred in the film The Adventure of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension in 1984. The film became a cult classic, but Jeff didn't have his real breakthrough until he starred in the remake of The Fly in 1986. In the 1990s, he starred in a few of the biggest blockbusters for their time. Jurassic Park in 1993, and playing one of the main roles for its sequel in The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997. It helped set the stage for him playing the intellectual characters in movies, including Independence Day in 1996.
